About

Most recipes hide the working.

A recipe tells you to rest the dough for twenty-four hours, and you have no idea whether that is a real finding, a tradition, or something the writer copied from somewhere else. Savor Studio publishes the testing alongside the recipe: the versions we cooked, the single thing that changed between them, and which one actually won.

How we test

Each version changes one variable. If we change the rest time, nothing else moves - same dough, same oven, same tray, same day where possible. Versions are tasted side by side rather than from memory, because memory of food is unreliable within hours. Every recipe is then cooked at least twice more in its winning form before publication.

We publish the failures

The trial log on every recipe includes the versions that did not work, and what was wrong with them. Knowing that potatoes roasted at 450 degrees burn before the centres cook is more useful than simply being told to use 400.

We report null results

Where more effort makes no real difference, we say so plainly. Three hours of ragù was not meaningfully better than ninety minutes; seventy-two hours of cookie dough rest was not better than twenty-four. A test is only worth running if you are willing to publish a boring answer.

What this is not

This is a home kitchen, not a laboratory. We cook in domestic ovens with ordinary equipment, taste with our own palates, and run small numbers of trials. Our findings are honest reports of what happened on our bench, not controlled scientific studies, and your oven may disagree with ours.

About the domain

SavorStudio.shop is a recipe website. Nothing is sold here, there is no store, no checkout, no classes or workshops for sale, and no affiliate links in our recipes. Where advertising appears, it is clearly marked and served by third-party ad networks rather than by us.
